Fundraising is an important component of our school’s annual budget. This year, our goal is to raise $35,000 through fundraising efforts. Your attendance and support at our special events helps SLC continue its mission of providing high quality early education to as many children as possible. In addition, we are re-energizing our efforts to increase our Financial Assistance program so we can provide Tuition Scholarships to families to decrease financial hurdles to children’s enrollment in our program.

Dear SLC Friends and Supporters,
Over the past three school years, we have embarked on a fundraising mission that I am extremely proud of: we have limited the financial asks of our community and made sure these asks have a clear intention. SLC’s Governing Board of Directors has spearheaded the effort, and the tremendous efforts of our Parent Committee Members have helped steer the school in this direction. Creating a caring SLC community, and connecting with, and supporting, the greater Evanston community have been our guiding principles on this journey.
Some of the proceeds from this year’s Annual Benefit will directly impact two very important initiatives at SLC—our Inclusion Program and our Financial Assistance program. Fueled by our desire and commitment to nurture a diverse school community, our Inclusion Program for children with disabilities has been going strong for over 30 years. SLC is proud to be the only preschool in Evanston that staffs every classroom with an Inclusion Assistant, to meet the diverse needs of every child who attends our school, especially preschoolers with a diagnosed special need. In addition, we are re-energizing our efforts to increase our Financial Assistance program so we can provide Tuition Scholarships to families who otherwise would not be able to afford a preschool experience.
An integral part of SLC is our relationship-based approach to teaching, one where we create an environment where all children feel safe and valued. I hope you will join us in our mission to educate and include an array of young children by participating in the upcoming Annual Benefit. There are many ways to participate including attending the event, purchasing raffle tickets, bidding on auction items (before and during the event), becoming a family sponsor, participating in the wine pull, or signing up to attend a “sign-up” party such as a movie night or fun run.
I am looking forward to seeing many of you March 4th.
