Inclusion Program

At School for Little Children (SLC), we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive program that celebrates diversity and acceptance. Inclusion in early childhood education is vital, as it lays the foundation for lifelong empathy, respect, and understanding. By learning and playing alongside peers of varied backgrounds, abilities, and cultures, children gain valuable skills that help them embrace the world’s rich diversity.

Our Inclusion Coordinator, Dr. Gwen Fiske, works collaboratively to ensure every child thrives in a supportive and nurturing environment. Gwen provides classroom recommendations, training, and resources to staff while partnering closely with families. If your child has a medical need, developmental delay, or diagnosis of any kind, please share it with us so we can best support your family.

Our commitment to inclusion extends to adults with disabilities through our vibrant volunteer program, creating a welcoming community for all!

Stay & Play

This guided social skills group, led by a Child Development Specialist, meets once a week from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. Each 90-minute session includes lunch and provides children with meaningful opportunities to practice essential skills such as sharing ideas, problem-solving, taking turns, and developing flexible thinking.

Enrollment in the Stay & Play program is by recommendation from a teacher, Director, or Inclusion Coordinator. If you believe your child could benefit from this program, please reach out to one of your child’s teachers to discuss further.
