A Continuation of SLC’s Mission

The Kindergarten class offers a continuation of our teaching philosophy for children who turn five by September 1st. Through our research-based curriculum, the Creative Curriculum, children learn through PLAY and in the context of RELATIONSHIPS.

With their teachers as guides, children will have the opportunity to discover, problem solve, and acquire new skills through activities that take into consideration their developmental strengths, needs and interests

Curriculum & Assessment

The Creative Curriculum for Kindergarten nurtures the “whole child”, focusing on learning outcomes in the areas of: Literacy, Math, Science, Social Studies, SEL & the Arts. Through the 38 learning objectives, which are aligned with state early learning guidelines and the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes framework, children’s growth and development is assessed on a continuous basis.

Introducing Anne DeCelles

Anne holds a Masters in Elementary Education from DePaul University. She has more than 20 years of experience teaching a wide range of students including adults. She enjoyed her time as a classroom teacher in Kindergarten and 1st grade for many years, but her heart has always belonged to the youngest learners. She was happy to finally add Early Childhood Education to her teaching license last year through National Louis University. Fun facts about Anne are her teaching experiences abroad. She taught in France for almost three years. She likes reading, walking and going to the beach.
