About
Educate.
Creating a community of learners, we are committed to an early education experience based on meaningful relationships and purposeful play. The IL Early Learning Standards as well as The Creative Curriculum, guide our teachers as they intentionally plan their curriculum to support all areas of development.
Nurture.
Optimal learning takes place when children feel safe and valued; therefore, supporting social-emotional development is our top priority. Every classroom is led by two qualified teachers, plus a teaching assistant, who help children navigate peer interactions and foster a positive sense of self.
Inspire.
Learning new skills, taking pride in accomplishments and daily discovery are essential to a child’s personal growth. Through engaging activities, SLC children are becoming artists, architects, mathematicians, readers, writers, scientists, and more.
Committed to a collaborative Professional Learning Community, our staff meets consistently to think deeply about children’s interests and development. In short, our goal is to inspire a love of learning for all.
Our Mission
The Mission of School for Little Children is to educate, nurture and inspire all children and support families in that endeavor. We seek to provide high quality and equitable early education in a community that embraces individuality and diversity while promoting the social-emotional and cognitive development of our students.
Commitment to Equity
School for Little Children believes every student should have access to educational opportunities and equitable outcomes despite race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, language, nationality/immigration status, disability, family background, or family income.
We are committed to the continuous process of assessment, reflection, and improvement by identifying and removing barriers in our current policies, procedures, systems, or practices and strategically allocating resources that support access and opportunity for every student.
